WHAT HAPPENS
FitzChivalry Farseer is abandoned at Buckkeep as Prince Chivalry's bastard son and raised in the stables by Burrich. King Shrewd turns the boy into a hidden tool of the throne: Chade trains him in poisons, knives, spying, and obedience, while Galen's brutal Skill training leaves Fitz damaged and distrustful. As Red-Ship Raiders and Forged victims destabilize the Six Duchies, Fitz is sent into the Mountain Kingdom during Verity's arranged marriage to Kettricken. Regal's plot twists the mission into betrayal: Rurisk dies, Fitz is poisoned and nearly murdered, and Fitz uses the Skill to help Verity survive Galen's attack. By the end, Kettricken still marries Verity, the alliance holds, Burrich and Fitz are bruised but not wholly broken, and Regal remains a dangerous enemy inside the royal family.
